Acoustic Photography

Photography portfolio platforms have a persistent problem. Most are either too generic to serve serious photographers well, or too complex to maintain without technical help. The work ends up competing with the interface rather than being served by it.

Acoustic Photography was built to solve that, and to demonstrate what Acoustic can deliver for photographers, artists, and creative professionals who need a platform that gets out of the way.

The site presents photography by Erik Ingvoldstad across digital, film, and medium format, organised into series covering architecture, landscape, portrait, and place. But the build is the story.

Designed for the work

Every design decision was made in service of the images. The palette is a warm off-white that recedes behind the photographs rather than competing with them. Typography is minimal and purposeful. Navigation is clean without being sparse. The result is a platform that feels considered without drawing attention to itself, which is exactly the right outcome for a photography portfolio.

The build

The site is built in Next.js with Sanity as the headless CMS, giving full editorial control over series, individual images, captions, and journal entries without touching the codebase. New work can be added, series reordered, and the journal updated entirely from Sanity Studio.

The search implementation goes beyond basic keyword matching. Semantic search understands the intent behind a query rather than just matching strings, so searching for a mood, a subject, or a feeling surfaces relevant work even when the exact words do not appear in any caption or title. For a photographer whose work spans multiple series and formats, that is a meaningfully better experience than a conventional search bar.

The journal section adds a written dimension to the work, with an RSS feed for subscribers who want to follow new entries. The gallery index organises series with a numbering system that gives the portfolio a structured, archival quality without feeling rigid.

The site is fully responsive, fast, and built to the same standard Acoustic brings to every client project.

What it demonstrates

Acoustic Photography is a working example of what a serious creative portfolio platform looks like when it is built properly: semantic search, headless CMS, clean design, and a Next.js architecture that performs at every screen size.
